Two New Faculty Books

Intrepid law professor and Worldview Academy lecturer Mike Schutt has published an exciting new book with InterVarsity Press called Redeeming Law: Christian Calling and the Legal Profession. This is essential reading for practicing attorneys and students who aspire to practice law, but it’s also a valuable resource for the rest of us. There are few professions these days that do more to shape our culture, so it’s essential for all of us to understand the law from a biblical perspective.

Side by side with the publication of his book, Mike has launched a new weblog called Justitia, where he recently outlined “a framework for thinking about justice.” If you’ve enjoyed Mike’s lectures, you’ll want to follow the new blog closely.

My own book, Rethinking Worldview, is going to release in just a matter of days, and I couldn’t be more excited. Based on the lectures you’ve heard me give at Worldview Academy, the book explores how worldviews function as starting points, systems, and stories — then places worldview thinking in the larger context of wisdom and witness. Like Mike, I’ve also launched a new blog to coincide with the book’s publication, the Rethinking Worldview Blog. Check it out if you’d like to know more about the book.

I can honestly say that if it hadn’t been for the Worldview Academy community — the faculty, staff, and students — this book would never have been written. The support and encouragement has been overwhelming. (Plus, I got tired of people asking, “Why don’t you have a book on the book table when Jeff Baldwin has two?”) I’m sure I speak for Mike as well in saying, thanks for everything. Enjoy the books.
